In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1) What do you think?

To say “in the beginning” is profound but liquid. There are innumerable beginnings. This sentence, however, speaks to the ultimate beginning. Which is what, then? It is that point where the universe--one of several meanings for the word “heaven”--came into being. There are as many theories as to the creation of the universe as there are scientists to make the theories. None of these theories are provable, of course, but that also means that they are not disprovable. Any of them may be valid and any of them can have been utilized by God as the method of creation, in keeping with the Scripture. That in itself would allow that the creation took any number of eons to complete.
