Did people who lived in 1850 have more in common with people who lived in 50 a.d. than 1950?

well yes and no, simple lives yes but the ships they used were FAR more advanced than a roman ship. slightly better weapons than julius caesar? they had gunpowder, war was a whole different thing. the medical was alot more developed and they were more civilised as goes to rights of humans and such, romans treated everyone like crap whenever they had the chance especially slaves, yes there was slaves in 1850 but they werent treated as bad as ancient times. so yes they had simple lives but nonetheless more advanced than the ancient world. at the turn of the century though the world changed forever...
