Why are lebanese girls and their familes okay with sicilians?

I'm Sicilian and i am with this very gorgeous lebanese young women. Everything about her is just beautiful everything from her looks to her personality. Her family is actually very "cool" with me not being lebanese. Its great because I've always loved there culture and she's always loved Sicilian/italian culture. Is it because they of similar cultures? traditions? btw this is a traditional lebanese family who can be close minded at times but not with me at all!
