Help!!! how to crochet a hat?

hey. so i want to crochet but im finding it cvery difficult. i know how to knit but it takes so long that i get bored and never finish anything. i want to learn how to crochet a hat (its really to cover a bowling ball but i figured i could put two hats together with a zipper) i have watched like 20 ccrocheting videos and its just not working out. all i can do is the chain and then it kind of goes bad from there. there was a slow motion video that i thought i was doing exactly what they were doing but mine didnt look anything like theres. can anyone help me with some simple instructions that i can understand. i only can do the chain i dont know anyother stitch. thanks if you can help.
