How dangerous to have a pool your yard in Florida?

I have lived here for many years, and if you are near a lake you do need to watch small dogs and children. Gators are not "everywhere' but when one comes by you don't want your dog to be his dinner! don't let this scare you off - Florida is great and we love living here! as to the fence yes you need to fence it, it is the law in most areas, so children from the neighborhood don't wander in and drown.
