Do I turn off b on speakers and let sub handle it?

I just put it an amp and sub and new HU into my car. The HU has outputs specifically for the sub as well as setting for the sub on it. What I'm wondering is if your supposed to change the settings on the HU and set the b level to 0 and then set the sub setting up on the HU so that the Sub handles all the b.
